Tania got admitted last Tues due to high fever and fits. It was a scary moment, as both me and hub were not home at that time. Mum called with the maid screaming over the phone - I panicked as I did not know what was happening. Luckily, our neighbour was around. She explained the situation to me and then helped rushed her to the hospital. I called hub after that, and by the time I got to the hospital, her fever had gone down and they have taken her blood for testing. They did the H1N1 swab as well.
She was admitted for 2 nights for observation. Thank God the test for H1N1 came out negative. However, her white blood cells were so high - the doctor informed us that Tania has sinus infection. We were told to limit the use of mozzie sprays and air fresheners in the house, as well as no smoking in front of her. No more processed food as well.
She is now back home and went back to school on Mon. Still on antibiotics, but we have to be very careful of the environment from now onwards. We will probably do away with the carpet in the hall, and for our cat, JJ, we have to make sure that the house is spot clean of her fur. Danders could be an issue as it is invisible to the human eye.
Just wondering - is it really the environment that is so polluted or is it that the immune system of the kids now are not as strong? I guess we can never be sure.
